Betty recently enjoyed a wonderful visit to Chichester to join a TOC tennis session at Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club. With beautiful courts and glorious sunshine, it was the perfect afternoon for sport, friendship and fun.
It was especially lovely to reconnect with friends from Together Our Community (TOC), who we first met this time last year when Kevin and Betty began planning the Chichester Personal Bests event. So much has happened since then! Alongside familiar faces, it was great to meet some enthusiastic new young people joining TOC activities.
TOC is a fantastic example of what happens when people with learning disabilities are given the right support and opportunities. Confidence grows, skills develop, and people truly thrive.
Betty also had the chance to put her tennis skills into action during Justin’s brilliant, inclusive session. The group tackled fun drills focused on coordination, teamwork and movement – and there was plenty of laughter along the way. It’s easy to see why these sessions are such a hit!
It’s been a real pleasure working with TOC leaders Hilary and Lou. Their passion for the young people they support is infectious, and their openness to new challenges and opportunities makes such a difference.
We’re absolutely delighted that the Chichester Personal Bests helped spark TOC’s journey into tennis. And the story doesn’t end there! Kevin and Betty will be joining TOC and Apuldram Centre next week at their regular running group with Chichester Runners and Athletics Club.
We can’t wait to be put through our paces at the April session!
